Engage with fisheries officers to determine most suitable spot to stock fish

NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI), a New South Wales government division responsible for fisheries, aquaculture and natural resource management, needed a better way to coordinate fish stocking across 100+ remote sites. Field staff often drive hours or days to stocking locations and previously relied on about 100 phone calls per employee each season plus emails to notify local fisheries officers, leading to wasted travel and uncertainty when messages weren’t acknowledged.

DPI adopted Workplace from Meta (Workplace) and set up a private Hatchery & Inland Compliance group, and added SWOOP Analytics to monitor engagement. The change eliminated routine phone calls, let staff see who had viewed and commented on stocking plans (preventing unsuitable-site trips), and supported targeted communications campaigns; SWOOP’s “Most Engaging Posts” metric helped improve participation and measure impact.
