Case Study: Tamil Nadu State Government achieves statewide sharing of innovative teaching practices with Workplace from Meta

Encourage sharing of innovative best practices among teachers across the state

Tamil Nadu State Government, which employs roughly 290,000 public school teachers across the state, needed a way to scale peer-to-peer sharing of innovative teaching and administrative practices among widely dispersed schools. To address this challenge they adopted Workplace from Meta (the Workplace app) to give teachers a simple, mobile-first channel for sharing ideas and resources.

Using Workplace from Meta the department created open state- and district-level groups where teachers post photos, videos and text, leaders can spotlight contributors, and the See Translation feature removes language barriers. The initiative built a searchable, multimedia repository accessible on mobile, increased visibility and recognition for innovators, and made sharing and replication of best practices feasible across Tamil Nadu’s ~290k-teacher workforce.
