Oxfam International needed a way to help staff decode the many acronyms and organizational jargon used across its global teams. In early 2018 they introduced OxBot — a jargon and acronym bot integrated into their Workplace from Meta instance and developed in collaboration with partner Formative — to provide on-demand definitions and keep a living repository of terms.

Workplace from Meta’s OxBot can be called from Workplace Chat, posts or comments and allows users to add or update acronyms directly, making the knowledge base self‑maintaining. The solution sped up onboarding and everyday communication, centralized terminology, and drove a measurable net increase in Workplace Chat messages per day as staff relied on OxBot for quick answers.
