Create communities of practices through social learning

Tan Tock Seng Hospital, one of Singapore’s largest multi‑disciplinary hospitals with over 8,000 staff and 45 clinical and allied health departments, faced a communications challenge: about 10% of its workforce is offsite and shift patterns made it difficult to reach all 3,600 nurses quickly. To improve internal communication and social learning, Tan Tock Seng Hospital adopted Workplace from Meta (Workplace by Facebook) to create communities of practice and connect staff across locations and shifts.

Workplace from Meta was rolled out hospital‑wide to host groups, polls, quizzes and peer learning, reducing the need for repeated roll calls and speeding information sharing. The platform achieved rapid adoption—over 75% of the workforce, 100+ active groups and 309 posts in a week (Dec 2017)—demonstrating improved engagement and more efficient internal communications.
