Case Study: Countdown Supermarkets achieves 5x more internal communication views and real-time supply-chain collaboration with Workplace from Meta

A Workplace from Meta Case Study

Preview of the Countdown Supermarkets Case Study

Connecting people and teams all along the supply chain

Countdown Supermarkets, one of New Zealand’s largest employers with more than 18,000 team members across 181 stores, support offices, distribution centres and meat and seafood plants, faced a major communications challenge: only 15% of staff were signed up to regular online internal communications, leaving frontline teams poorly connected across the supply chain. To address this, they adopted Workplace from Meta to reach the right audiences quickly and intuitively.

Using Workplace from Meta—leveraging News Feed, Groups, Workplace Chat and a custom “Bakery Bot”—Countdown connected buying teams, store staff and operational leadership in real time. The platform enabled faster alerts about stock issues, instant recipe access for bakers, and virtual check-ins from zone managers; adoption climbed to almost 80% of the workforce and communications views jumped 5x within six weeks, cutting wasted time and food waste, improving transparency, engagement and customer service collaboration.
