WorkOS implemented a solution using an authHandler pattern that wraps the entire MCP server, providing clean separation of concerns and handling authentication declaratively. This allowed Vercel to deploy secure MCP servers globally on Vercel Edge with zero configuration, achieving enterprise JWT authentication, automatic user context, and SSO support in under five minutes.
