A WorkJam Case Study
Largest Department Store, Australia’s largest department store chain serving 300+ communities, faced a dire financial and operational challenge: legacy, admin‑heavy systems and siloed frontline roles left the 90‑year‑old business losing money and struggling to execute an aggressive three‑year turnaround focused on cutting costs, improving people and processes, and refocusing on customer experience. To unify communication, training and workforce management, Largest Department Store selected WorkJam’s Digital Workplace platform in 2017.
WorkJam deployed its Digital Workplace across the organization to enable targeted communication to more than 15,000 team members, digital training and badging integrated with Kronos, and mobile rostering and task management that reduced manager admin time and improved scheduling accuracy and flexibility (shift swaps and pickups). The result was faster, paper‑free communications (same‑day video rollout), more consistent in‑store execution, measurable cost savings, higher employee engagement and a cultural shift toward frontline empowerment—outcomes that helped earn the retailer the 2018 National Retail Award Innovation Champion of the Year and set the business up for future growth.
