A Workiva Case Study
Nautilus, Inc., a global fitness-products company, reorganized its SEC reporting in 2013 and moved external reporting under Corporate Controller Mary Kahl. With Kahl and a newly hired consultant unfamiliar with the company’s processes, Nautilus briefly switched from Workiva’s Wdesk to a printer’s new reporting tool—but the trial product was immature, required manual work, and disrupted the quarterly filing process.
Nautilus switched back to Wdesk, using stored files for a quick, seamless transition and relying on Workiva’s customer success support and professional XBRL tagging. The change saved more than a week of report development time, enabled simultaneous collaboration by multiple team members, brought more work in-house, and restored confidence in the accuracy and presentation of its SEC reports.
