Challenger, a Sydney-based ASX‑listed investment manager with nearly 300 entities, 700+ employees and A$96.1 billion in assets under management, needed to accelerate its finance transformation to support growth. The finance team was burdened by manual, error‑prone reporting and close processes (including a 150‑page annual report produced in Excel/Word), increasing ESG and stakeholder data demands, and the need to improve consistency and reduce risk.
Challenger deployed a three‑part technology stack—modern planning, a contemporary ERP and the Workiva reporting platform—to automate data updates, integrate reporting with source systems and centralize reviews. The result: roughly one week saved on the annual report and about a day per month on management/board reporting, elimination of version chaos, stronger data trust and auditability, and scalable reporting processes without increasing headcount.
