Workday helps retail giant Asda transform HR at scale

ASDA, one of the UK’s largest retailers, faced the challenge of modernizing HR across 140,000 colleagues in 700 locations while handling high-volume recruitment of 4,000 to 5,000 hires per month. To support its large-scale Future Programme, ASDA partnered with Workday and used Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) along with Talent Management and Learning to simplify and unify people processes.

Workday implemented an integrated, data-driven HR platform connected to multiple systems, automating manual tasks and removing dual-keying from recruitment. The result was a faster end-to-end hiring journey, improved efficiency, and mobile self-service for colleagues, with Workday helping ASDA go live on time in March 2024 and launch 400+ future enhancements to keep improving operations.
