Case Study: Tokyo Electron achieves global HR consistency and improved productivity with Workday HCM

A Workday Case Study

Preview of the Tokyo Electron Case Study

Tokyo Electron - Customer Case Study

Tokyo Electron (TEL), a global semiconductor-equipment manufacturer with about 13,000 employees across 77 offices and ¥1,278.2 billion in revenue, struggled with fragmented, region-specific HR systems and a costly on‑premise platform. Collecting basic workforce data was slow and error-prone, updates and legal changes required expensive fixes, and inconsistent evaluation criteria impeded global HR management.

TEL implemented Workday HCM as a unified, cloud-based HR platform to lower operating costs and automate updates. The solution standardized grades and evaluations, improved data visibility and access control, shortened data collection from a month to hours, enabled self-service for employees, and measurably increased HR productivity and global consistency — with plans to add Workday Learning to link training and talent development.
