The University of Findlay transforms HR, improving user experience

The University of Findlay, a private Ohio institution founded in 1882 with about 3,800 students, relied on an enterprise system from 1985 and manual controls that left it without reliable reporting or modern processes. Seeking improved data integrity, analytics and a better user experience for students, parents and staff, the university determined it needed to modernize its systems and business processes.

Findlay implemented Workday (HCM, payroll, recruiting, time and absence, core financials, procurement and expenses) to automate workflows, eliminate paper-based processes and deliver a single self-service experience. The change produced major efficiency and control gains — including a 50% reduction in payroll, AP and monthly close cycle times; a 60% drop in procurement cycle time and HR reporting effort; 67% less time preparing financial statements; 98% automated key controls; standardized processes; reduced unbudgeted spend; and faster, audit-ready reporting, with plans to extend the experience via Workday Student.
