PwC, a global network of professional services firms with about 284,000 people in 155 countries, faced a major people‑technology challenge: more than 700 disparate HR systems, inconsistent job levels and processes across territories, and no standardized talent data. SPI Research documented PwC’s multi‑year Project Ignite, which aimed to secure agreement across member firms to adopt a single, cloud‑based Human Capital Management solution and standardize global processes.
PwC chose Workday for its cloud‑native “Power of One” platform and rolled it out in waves from 2018, standardizing 72 business processes and consolidating thousands of job descriptions into a single global job catalogue while limiting customizations to about 30 legal exceptions. The implementation reduced organizational complexity and risk, provided real‑time HR data, streamlined recruiting and onboarding for 63,000 hires annually, improved mobility and career management, and accelerated innovation and operational efficiency.
