MGM Resorts International, a global hospitality leader with marquee properties and about 62,000 employees, set out to become “one company” with a single culture. A companywide survey showed frontline managers were spending too much time on administrative tasks—attendance, payroll, and juggling multiple HR systems—which limited their ability to coach, engage, and reward employees and threatened the company’s high standard of guest service.

MGM deployed Workday Human Capital Management and Payroll across all properties, creating a unified, mobile HR and payroll platform. Within six weeks 94% of employees had logged in; staff gained real-time access to payslips and HR data, managers could give immediate feedback, payroll accuracy improved, and HR gained visibility into talent for hiring and succession (supporting growth needs of ~4,000 leaders). The result was greater efficiency, higher employee engagement, and stronger operational visibility to support world-class guest service.
