Johnson Controls cuts candidate response time from 10 hours to 10 minutes with Workday

Johnson Controls, a global leader in smart buildings with over 100,000 employees, faced significant challenges in scaling its hiring efforts across 150 countries. The recruiting team struggled with manual, time-consuming tasks like translating correspondence, which created a fragmented candidate experience. To address this, Johnson Controls partnered with vendor Workday and implemented the Workday Paradox Candidate Experience Agent, an AI solution named Emma, to optimize their existing Workday Recruiting system.

The solution involved using the AI agent Emma to automate initial candidate screening and interview scheduling via text message. Integrated with Workday Recruiting, Emma interacts fluently in 18 languages, eliminating translation burdens for recruiters. This implementation by Workday yielded substantial results, including a dramatic reduction in candidate response time from 10 hours to just 10 minutes. Additionally, Emma has scheduled over 10,000 interviews and handles approximately 190,000 candidate questions annually, significantly improving efficiency and the candidate experience.
