IGS Energy, a Dublin, Ohio–based independent retail energy supplier founded in 1989 with about 900 employees and over 1 million customers, faced growing pains as it relied on multiple systems for HR, payroll, and travel & expense management. The fragmented landscape (including SAP Concur) led to system limitations, rising ownership costs, and challenges with data synchronization, reporting, and approval workflows as expense volumes increased.

IGS implemented Workday Expenses alongside Workday HCM to create a single system for employee and manager self-service, with mobile receipt capture, immediate data synchronization, and configurable workflows. Since going live in 2017, the company achieved 100% automated expense reporting, a 50% reduction in reimbursement times and total cost of ownership, and a real-time view of employee spend.
