Nebraska Medicine, together with the University of Nebraska Medical Center, is a leading academic health system known for breakthroughs in cancer care, transplants, and infectious disease treatment. The organization faced aging ERP and IT infrastructure that frustrated employees, hindered mobile access, and risked talent retention—challenges made more urgent by COVID-19, which required rapid support for remote work and a dramatic expansion of telehealth.

To address this, IT partnered with HR and finance to select Workday (HCM and Financials), move key services to the cloud, and build a centralized app-store portal plus remote desktop and mobile device management. The changes enabled a summer Workday go-live, boosted system adoption and mobile access, scaled virtual care from a handful of visits to thousands daily, and improved employee experience and operational efficiency—helping the organization deliver higher-quality, cost-effective patient care and support a future hybrid-work model.
