H.B. Fuller and Workday Creating a Strategic Role for HR

H.B. Fuller, a global adhesives and specialty chemicals provider founded in 1887, operates in 43 countries with about 4,000 employees. After reorganizing into four geographic regions, the company found its North America–focused ERP could not provide accurate global workforce data or consistent HR processes, and ongoing upgrades and fixes were increasingly cost-prohibitive.

In 2008 H.B. Fuller implemented Workday Human Capital Management as a global SaaS solution, enabling employee and manager self-service, standardized reviews, regional compliance variations, and mobile access. The move proved less expensive than maintaining the legacy North America system, delivered faster access to global data, standardized HR practices across 43 countries, and freed HR from transactional work so it could act as a strategic business partner.
