Case Study: AstraZeneca achieves HR transformation and a high-performance culture with Workday

A Workday Case Study

Preview of the AstraZeneca Case Study

AstraZeneca - Customer Case Study

AstraZeneca, a global biopharmaceutical company with about 61,000 employees in 100+ countries, needed a world-class HR platform to support its high-performance culture. The company faced fragmented HR processes, inconsistent people data, and limited manager visibility, and wanted a unified, mobile-first solution to empower employees, harmonise processes and drive data-led decisions.

AstraZeneca implemented Workday in a global “big bang” rollout (23 languages, live across dozens of countries) and promoted mobile self-service—13,000 mobile logins in the first weeks. Adoption was rapid (94% accessed Workday by year-end; 79% monthly), and the program delivered major impacts: enabled a People Strategy, streamlined recruiting (53 countries live in 9 months; 3,500 requisitions and 44,900 applications in 4 months), reduced administrative burden (saving hundreds of manager-weeks and eliminating 415,319 approval transactions), and contributed to roughly $150M in IT cost savings.
