AAA Northern California, Nevada & Utah (AAA NCNU) is a 100+-year-old insurance and member-services organization with more than 4.2 million members and about 2,200 employees. Faced with fragmented legacy systems, lengthy month-end closes, and high administrative overhead that limited visibility into finances and people performance, the company needed a unified, cloud-based platform to improve forecasting, reduce costs, and free staff to focus on members.
AAA NCNU implemented Workday’s unified suite for HCM and Financial Management—going live in about 14 weeks—and consolidated systems such as payroll, expenses, and procure-to-pay. The change delivered a single source of truth, slashed the chart of accounts from 6,000 to 300, cut quarterly close time by roughly 50%, reduced ongoing HR/finance/payroll costs by about 50%, and trimmed support resources to one-third so two-thirds could be redeployed to member-focused priorities.
