University of Edinburgh Simplifies Planning for Accommodation, Catering and Events

The University of Edinburgh’s Information Services Group manages nearly 50,000 pages and 1,500 websites and needed a replacement for the discontinued Google site search that could handle large‑scale indexing, integrate with databases and Drupal sites, deliver fast relevance tuning, and provide detailed reporting and accessibility across devices.

Squiz implemented Funnelback, integrating the university’s content repositories, people and course directories, and configuring indexing rules, relevance tuning, facets and responsive UI alongside reporting dashboards. The result was faster, more relevant search across the estate, rich analytics that let content owners spot and fix issues, a consistent mobile/desktop experience, and clearer visibility of duplicate content to support ongoing optimisation.
