A Workday Adaptive Planning Case Study
The Texas A&M University System, a large public higher-education network serving roughly 150,000 students and 50,000 employees across multiple institutions, was burdened by fragmented, on‑premise HR and payroll systems—including mainframe code decades old. State mandates to move to cloud solutions, disappearing legacy skills, and risky, time‑consuming payroll customizations created urgent pressure to modernize.
Texas A&M deployed Workday’s cloud HCM and Payroll in a single tenant across its members, consolidating systems, standardizing processes, and shifting payroll changes to configuration rather than code. The implementation finished on time and under budget, cut payroll processing from 10–12 hours to under three, improved mobile approvals and data visibility, and freed IT resources to focus on strategic priorities like cybersecurity.
