Michael Baker Corporation is a global engineering and consulting firm with more than 2,800 employees serving aviation, defense, transportation, utilities and other markets. The finance team struggled with a cumbersome, error-prone budgeting process that relied on emailing spreadsheets to 100+ contributors and made accurate, project-level reporting and consolidation time-consuming and inefficient.
Baker implemented Adaptive Insights’ web-based Adaptive Planning in a phased six-month rollout to enable real-time roll-ups, collaborative budgeting, and ERP-like report templates without heavy IT involvement. The change eliminated over 100 hours of finance work, produced more accurate, formula-driven budgets, and delivered profitability and forecasting visibility down to thousands of projects across 37 locations and 140 reporting roll-ups, while enabling rapid what-if analysis and faster reporting.
