A Workday Adaptive Planning Case Study
Regent’s University London, London’s only independent nonprofit university, needed a better way to consolidate budgeting and planning across seven schools and about 50 cost centers. Its Excel-based process made data hard to trust, limited forecasting, and slowed decision-making, putting pressure on the university’s ability to manage finances and support the student experience. Workday Adaptive Planning was chosen to replace the existing FP&A approach with a more reliable planning system.
With Workday Adaptive Planning, Regent’s University London and its partner Clear Plan built a centralized budgeting model and moved to continuous planning, giving budget holders better visibility and ownership of financial performance. The university achieved its first budget cut in just six weeks and now produces faster, more efficient analysis and long-term forecasts, including three- to five-year modeling. Workday Adaptive Planning helped improve data accuracy, strengthen decision-making, and better identify cost-saving opportunities to reinvest in students.
