California College of the Arts (CCA), an Oakland-based art and design college serving about 1,800 students and 1,500 employees, faced fragmented HR and payroll systems—paper timesheets, error-prone spreadsheets, and manual processes—that obscured personnel data, made reporting difficult, and drained staff time, especially during budget season.
CCA implemented Workday to unify HCM, payroll, time and attendance (with recruiting planned), delivering a modern, mobile-friendly experience and continuous cloud updates. The result: faster, more accurate reporting and manager self‑service, a dramatic reduction in routine task time (from about an hour to 15 minutes), improved productivity and visibility, a stronger strategic HR role, and fewer costly upgrade headaches.
