Case Study: BARK boosts employee engagement by 14 points and unites its distributed workforce with Workday Adaptive Planning

A Workday Adaptive Planning Case Study

Preview of the BARK Case Study

BARK united a distributed workforce under one culture

BARK, a fast-growing direct-to-consumer dog company known for BarkBox, faced the challenge of understanding and unifying a rapidly expanding, distributed and highly seasonal workforce that nearly doubles during the holidays. With employees spread across offices and remote locations—and feedback scattered across channels—BARK needed a reliable, segmented way to capture anonymous employee insight and close experience gaps across teams.

BARK implemented Workday Peakon Employee Voice to give managers and the C‑Suite team-level dashboards, monthly surveys, and targeted “Improve” resources, enabling two-way conversations and faster action. The program generated more than 1,200 leader-employee conversations, boosted overall employee engagement by 14 points, and produced major location gains (engagement +38 in New York, environment +67 in Columbus), while improving visibility and alignment for remote and seasonal workers.
