How Automation Helps The Public Interest Network Advocate for a Better World

The Public Interest Network (TPIN) is a coalition of advocacy organizations active across all 50 states with 1.5 million supporters, running campaigns in top media markets and hundreds of congressional districts. Facing tight budgets funded largely by small donors, TPIN struggled with disconnected systems and time-consuming manual processes—particularly for recruitment, onboarding, payroll and PTO tracking—while custom scripts proved expensive and hard to maintain.

TPIN adopted low-code automation with Quick Base and Workato to integrate Mandrill, DocuSign and external APIs, automating recruitment emails, onboarding data flows, PTO accruals, lead enrichment and secure access. The result: about 2,600 staff hours saved annually (roughly one full-time equivalent), faster hires, fewer manual entries, better finance alignment and an improved employee experience—stretching donor dollars further.
