The New York Times launches video branding in 2 weeks with Work-Order

The New York Times faced the challenge of organizing its extensive video library to meet the high design standards of its publications, lacking an in-house team to accomplish this. They brought in the vendor Work-Order to establish a strategy and a cohesive design system for their video content.

Work-Order implemented a comprehensive solution that included updating the video landing page, creating a system of channels, and developing a powerful logo mnemonic. They designed a hierarchical titling system to differentiate content by subject and tone and provided an easy-to-use video toolkit. This resulted in a unified and branded video offering that was both "Timesian" and honored the variety of their content, earning recognition including Fast Company's Best Design of 2014.
