Case Study: Alitheon achieves part traceability without costly marking with Wood’s AI-based FeaturePrint™

A Wood Case Study

Preview of the Alitheon Case Study

Integrating the first AI-based FeaturePrint™ for automotive manufacturing

Alitheon, a software technology provider, was faced with the challenge of meeting the strict traceability requirements in automotive manufacturing, which traditionally required the costly and time-consuming process of marking each part with a unique number. Wood's Machine Vision team collaborated with them and a global automotive manufacturer on a pilot for a solution using Alitheon's AI-based FeaturePrint™ technology.

The solution implemented by Wood involved using FeaturePrint™ to create a unique digital identity for each part, which is stored in a database. This AI and machine vision system can identify a part even if 90% of its surface has been removed, eliminating the need for physical marking. This innovation by Wood has the potential to be an industry game-changer, saving clients substantial costs by removing the requirement for expensive marking equipment and streamlining the assembly process.
