Africa’s largest solar PV plant supports Egypt’s renewable energy goals

Bayerische Landesbank, alongside the Arab African International Bank, required lenders' technical advisory services for the development of the Infinity 50 project, a part of the massive Benban Solar Park in Egypt. This was a critical undertaking, representing the first utility-scale PV plant in the country and a cornerstone of Egypt's goal to incorporate more renewable sources into its energy mix. The banks engaged Wood to provide pre-construction technical due diligence to ensure the project's viability.

Wood supported the client by performing a comprehensive technical due diligence process, which included site assessment, technology review, and independent energy yield analysis. This was followed by construction monitoring through to the project's commercial operation. As a result, the 64.1 MWp Infinity 50 Solar Park is now operational and anticipated to produce over 110,000 MWh per year, enough electricity to power nearly 69,000 homes. The work completed by Wood helped bring Africa's largest solar park to life, a landmark project that will prevent over 1.293 million tonnes of CO2 emissions.
