The Butterfly Circus - Customer Case Study

The Butterfly Circus, an award-winning short film with a 1930s-era aesthetic, needed a polished website on a tight deadline after the film's release. The filmmakers had a specific, period-authentic design in mind and were stuck when an earlier developer abandoned a custom build, so they hired Skyrocket Websites’ Nick Daugherty to finish the project quickly and reliably.

Daugherty rebuilt the site as a Canvas child theme, using targeted CSS and JavaScript tweaks to create a split circus navigation, an ornate three-part frame, and a jQuery-powered animated homepage without Flash, plus a custom metabox for per-page backgrounds. He integrated MarketPress for DVD sales, added key plugins (e.g., Gravity Forms, analytics tools), and delivered a fully functional, easy-to-manage site in just over a week, preserving the film’s authentic look while enabling direct sales and improved content management.
