Nuwomb wanted to create a more customized WooCommerce site than the out-of-the-box Emporium theme allowed, adding features like a photoblog alongside ecommerce. The challenge was that the theme didn’t include the custom post types, templates, and fields needed for this vision, so the customer had to extend WooCommerce beyond standard support.

WooCommerce helped by providing a flexible theme framework that Nuwomb could adapt using code and components from other WooThemes. By forking post type code, metaboxes, templates, and CSS from themes like Simplicity and Inspire, Nuwomb built a custom photoblog with before-and-after image fields and responsive styling. The result was a unique “dream theme” with added functionality and a working Nuwomb homepage, though it required ongoing tweaks to support responsive design.
