A WooCommerce Case Study
Imperial College London needed a flexible digital learning Hub to support its Business School programmes (about 1,600 students and 250 staff) and to deliver more course material, quizzes and interactive activities online. They wanted tight access control so users only see content tied to their Programme and Courses, and evaluated several LMS options before choosing Sensei for its built-in quiz engine and development roadmap — while acknowledging the project required substantial custom development.
Psycle Interactive built the Hub on WordPress using Sensei and a suite of plugins (Sensei Modules, BuddyPress, bbPress, Posts 2 Posts, BadgeOS, Custom Metadata Manager, WooSidebars) plus a custom Programmes content type and several Sensei customizations (e.g., multi-answer MCQs, auto-graded gap-fill). They automated user imports and program/course attachments, created Programme-specific newsfeeds, forums and badges, and layered a lightweight, responsive design. The result is a scalable, tightly gated learning environment that supports Programme-level content, active discussion and achievement tracking while remaining adaptable for future design and feature updates.
