Pedagogical continuity at the University of Lausanne

The University of Lausanne faced the sudden challenge of ensuring pedagogical continuity and a valid academic semester after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the closure of its campus. The institution needed to quickly transition over 3,000 teachers and 16,000 students to a remote learning model while preserving academic freedom and not overloading its digital infrastructure.

To support this transition, Wooclap was deployed as a key interactivity tool to engage students during synchronous online sessions and webinars. The vendor, Wooclap, was used to train approximately 500 teachers, with adoption rates expected to jump from 100 users to between 500 and 600. The solution helped the university maintain connection and interaction, complementing other technical measures taken to handle a massive increase in online content, including 400 hours of video uploaded in a single week.
