Pima County Has Taken Significant Steps to Look After the Well-Being Of Its Citizens

Pima County’s Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department operates the Tres Rios facility and a network of plants, lift stations and 3,500 miles of sewer to manage about 60 million gallons a day for roughly one million residents. Pima County implemented a Wonderware-based SCADA and mobile workforce solution—System Platform, InTouch, Historian and IntelaTrac—to create a unified plant model, improve situational awareness, capture veteran knowledge and enable data-driven decision making. The upgrade doubled plant capacity (about a 50% increase in operational efficiency), cut energy use by 10%, maintained current staffing levels, captured institutional knowledge for training, and produced financial wins including a $352,000 utility rebate and identified annual energy savings opportunities.
