Case Study: Pima County doubles wastewater plant capacity and boosts operational efficiency 50% with Wonderware West

A Wonderware West Case Study

Preview of the Pima County Case Study

Pima County has taken significant steps to look after the well-being of its citizens

Pima County, Arizona’s Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department manages more than 60 million gallons a day for roughly one million residents across a 700‑square‑mile service area and faced challenges capturing institutional knowledge, reducing nuisance alarms, and coordinating assets spread over a large geography. To address this, Pima County partnered with Wonderware West to deploy a Wonderware HMI SCADA solution using Situational Awareness along with Wonderware System Platform, InTouch, Historian and the IntelaTrac mobile workforce and decision‑support system.

Wonderware West implemented the situationally aware SCADA and mobile workflow solution and provided Customer FIRST support to sustain and upgrade the system; as a result Pima County doubled Tres Rios facility capacity while using the same staff (~50% increase in operational efficiency), cut overall energy consumption by 10%, improved alarm response and troubleshooting, and captured institutional knowledge to train future operators.
