Youth Employment Partnership - Customer Case Study

Youth Employment Partnership (YEP) is an Oakland nonprofit founded in 1973 that helps teens and young adults (14–24), including parolees, gain job readiness and GED skills through its Career Try-Out program. Many participants lack high school completion and basic workplace skills, contributing to high recidivism risk, and YEP needed faster, clearer diagnostics to tailor instruction and move students into employment tracks more quickly.

YEP implemented the Wonderlic GAIN assessment alongside the Steck‑Vaughn GAIN Essentials curriculum to target instruction to each student’s needs. Intake planning time dropped from more than two weeks to just a few days, students showed higher motivation and pride in their progress, and within six months YEP reported improved program completion and GED pass rates, quicker advancement for test‑ready clients, and earlier identification of those needing individual tutoring.
