A Wonderlic Case Study
Rochester Adult Center for Education (RACE), a division of Rochester Community Schools serving 125–150 adults and alternative-education students annually, provides free high school completion, GED, ESL, vocational training and counseling. After federal budget changes removed financial aid for students without a diploma or GED, RACE needed a faster, more precise way to place learners, keep them engaged, and improve completion and retention.
RACE adopted the Wonderlic GAIN basic skills assessment to quickly identify specific English and math skill gaps. The diagnostic reports let teachers tailor instruction and materials, which increased retention, reduced dropouts, produced cost savings, and helped students reach GED or high school credit faster so they can pursue college or work.
