Emprise Bank, a Kansas-based community bank with 40 branches, struggled to hire efficiently — receiving about 600 applicants a month for roughly a dozen open positions. Recruiters were spending too much time screening and interviewing unqualified candidates, making it hard to build a reliable candidate pipeline and avoid costly bad hires (about $7,000 each).
In 2011 Emprise implemented the Wonderlic Personnel Test, using an 8-minute online pre-test followed by a 12-minute proctored on-site assessment for competitive candidates. Prequalifying applicants saved hours per candidate, freed recruiters to focus on community recruiting, improved the applicant experience, and led to higher-quality hires with better retention.
