A Wonderlic Case Study
Eastern Idaho Technical College (EITC), the state’s only purely professional technical college, needed a modern basic-skills assessment for its adult education program as high-stakes tests like the GED moved online. With a rural student population and concerns about limited computer experience, EITC sought a computerized test that would both prepare students for digital exams and provide useful diagnostic data for instructors.
EITC adopted the Wonderlic GAIN® assessment in June 2011 and quickly scaled it—nearly 900 students completed pre- and post-tests per year with only two students struggling with the computer format. Students appreciated the shorter, simpler online experience, and instructors received more specific reports that enabled targeted instruction, leading to higher rates of level gains and GED completions in 2012; the program’s success prompted recommendations for statewide adoption.
