Doormark is a North American manufacturer of high-quality thermofoil cabinet doors and drawer fronts founded in 1994 and based near Miami with about 100 employees. With roughly half the workforce communicating exclusively in Spanish, HR faced the challenge of reliably assessing candidates’ work ethic, attitude and ability to learn — critical factors for safely operating and maintaining $300,000 machines.
Doormark adopted Spanish versions of the Wonderlic Productivity Index and Wonderlic Personnel Test to measure willingness to work safely and ability to follow directions and learn new tasks. The tests gave HR a more selective, objective hiring process, preserved access to Spanish-speaking talent that would otherwise be excluded, and helped ensure safer, better-qualified hires.
