Automotive Training Institute (ATI) is a Maryland-based management consultancy that helps repair shops, tire dealers and other automotive businesses increase profitability—aiming to help clients keep at least $0.62 of every service dollar. ATI’s challenge was ensuring that service managers, who are the primary customer-facing staff, have the right behaviors and motivation to drive sales, retention and long-term profitability, and to identify and develop future leaders.

ATI integrates Wonderlic’s Comprehensive Personality Profile (CPP) into its business evaluations for service managers; the CPP measures job-related traits like emotional intensity, assertiveness and motivation. The assessments proved highly accurate and are now used for coaching, tailored leadership and compensation strategies, hiring decisions and succession planning—helping clients improve profits and even groom managers to take over businesses.
