A Wonderlic Case Study
American Woodmark, the largest independent cabinet manufacturer in the U.S. with about 11% market share and 5,000 employees across nine locations, needed a more efficient way to identify strong managerial candidates. Their prior use of an I/O psychologist for late-stage assessments was costly and added two to three weeks to hiring, often revealing fit problems only after significant time and expense.
In 2008 they introduced Wonderlic cognitive and personality assessments (WPT-Q, WPT-R, CPP, PCI) early in the hiring process, giving recruiters and hiring managers actionable insight up front. The result: faster, more focused recruiting, better interview decisions, improved manager onboarding and retention, and a recruiting process now driven by assessment results.
