A Wolters Kluwer ELM Solutions Case Study
Barnabas Health, the largest health system in New Jersey, needed a better way to support its pharmacists, who were spread thin across seven campuses and 3,500+ beds. The team was relying on delayed daily lab reports and manual, screen-by-screen review of patient data, making it difficult to identify care opportunities quickly and efficiently. Wolters Kluwer ELM Solutions, through its Pharmacy OneSource Sentri7 clinical data surveillance application, offered a more effective way to manage medication optimization and patient safety.
Wolters Kluwer ELM Solutions implemented Sentri7 to automate surveillance, prioritize clinical rules, and support initiatives such as antimicrobial stewardship, anticoagulation monitoring, renal dosing, and core measures tracking. As a result, Barnabas Health expanded safety initiatives, improved workflow efficiency, and increased documented cost savings from $1.4 million in 2009 to more than $5.1 million in 2010. The solution also helped raise automated patient screening from about 35% to 92% and provided stronger justification for staffing levels.
