Kagoshima University Hospital increases UpToDate use through single sign-on

Kagoshima University Hospital, the only university hospital in Kagoshima Prefecture, needed to make evidence-based clinical information easier for busy doctors, residents, students, and pharmacists to access across a large hospital information environment. Working with Wolters Kluwer ELM Solutions, the hospital focused on improving access to UpToDate, a clinical decision support resource used to support timely, evidence-based care.

Wolters Kluwer ELM Solutions implemented single sign-on integration so users could access UpToDate directly through the hospital electronic medical record and even continue using it outside the hospital for a period of time. The result was a dramatic increase in UpToDate usage, especially from off-campus and via the app, helping clinicians retrieve information faster, support evidence-based nursing, and improve care efficiency and patient safety.
