UPC, a subsidiary of Goodrich Aerospace Quality Control Cuts Cycle Time (From Weeks to Minutes)

Universal Propulsion Co, a Goodrich Aerospace subsidiary that manufactures aerospace and military devices, struggled with slow, error-prone manual document and quality-control processes where traceability and accuracy were critical. To modernize its aging mainframe systems and get better control of quality records, UPC engaged WM Synergy and adopted the VISUAL ERP platform and VISUAL Quality modules.

WM Synergy implemented three VISUAL Quality modules—Calibration, Document Management, and Nonconformance Management—automating tracking of nearly 5,700 gauges, management of 5,000 CAD drawings and about 21,700 procedures, and converting paper nonconformance workflows to electronic processing. The WM Synergy deployment cut nonconformance-report cycle time from weeks to minutes, improved reporting versus the old DOS tool, reduced document handling overhead, and positioned UPC to continue automating quality processes.
