Instrument Technology doubles profits with VISUAL DBR

Instrument Technology, Inc., a 52‑person U.S. manufacturer of borescopes, fiberscopes and videoscopes, was struggling with long lead times, late shipments and limited shop‑floor visibility — lead-times were 12 weeks and on‑time delivery was poor. To address these issues ITI engaged WM Synergy to deploy VISUAL DBR, a Theory of Constraints (TOC) Drum‑Buffer‑Rope scheduling solution, to improve scheduling and throughput.

WM Synergy updated ITI’s VISUAL database and put VISUAL DBR into production, giving managers daily buffer visibility and simpler priority control; within weeks scheduling decisions improved. The results: on‑time deliveries rose to 95%, lead‑times fell from 12 weeks to about 4–5 weeks, overall inventory dropped 20% (one major product line down 70%), throughput productivity increased 43%, and profitability improved substantially.
