Kansas Department of Corrections reduces costs, improves online training by integrating the WizIQ Virtual Classroom with Moodle

The Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC), which provides training to more than 5,000 staff, contractors and partners across the state, needed a more effective synchronous training tool to complement its Moodle LMS. Using DimDim for live classes left KDOC with high costs, poor user experience and excessive bandwidth use, so the agency sought a solution that would reduce spending and improve training quality and satisfaction.

In August 2011 KDOC integrated the WizIQ Virtual Classroom with Moodle, gaining faster screen and YouTube sharing, advanced whiteboard controls, an extensive content library, lower bandwidth requirements and easier entry for learners. The change cut institutional training costs by 50%, drove a 400% increase in online instructors, expanded online course offerings to 50+ courses, and boosted satisfaction among administrators, trainers and students.
