USA Rugby and Wizeline Launch Chatbot for Rugby World Cup Sevens

USA Rugby, the national governing body for rugby in America, needed a fast, efficient way to share tournament information and answer common fan questions during Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 in San Francisco. With its media and communications team focused on onsite event logistics, USA Rugby turned to Wizeline for a turnkey chatbot solution to improve fan engagement and reduce support burden.

Wizeline designed and developed a Facebook Messenger chatbot, RWC7s Fanbot, to deliver match schedules, score updates, stadium facts, dining options, and subscription updates for fans in and out of the stadium. The bot ran for four days and generated measurable engagement, with more than 1,100 unique users recorded by Facebook Analytics and 4,015 messages exchanged, helping USA Rugby enhance the overall event experience.
