International Cargo Express, founded in 1988, is a freight forwarding company built on high customer service, low overheads and long-serving staff. In 2009, amid a management buyout and a sudden market slowdown, the company faced a sharp drop in business and had to persuade cautious customers to return while protecting margins and cashflow.
The company responded by sticking to a low-cost, customer-focused model and continuing to invest in integrated technology—having adopted Deliverance in 1995 and later CargoWise ediEnterprise—to consolidate operations, eliminate double entries and improve tracking and communications. The result was sustained profitability through the downturn, increased job capacity without extra hires, renewed growth and improved service levels, positioning the firm to pursue steady year-on-year expansion.
